Drive east from Lochmere Estates, and you have easy access to Hwy 59, and onward to Interstate 12 to the shopping malls of Slidell. Bicycle enthusiasts can take a shortcut to the Tammany Trace, a recreation trail created from a converted railroad track extending north to Abita Springs and Covington, and south to Mandeville, where the trailhead facility is often the host for outdoor musical events.
